“Does
this called as life pressure or me having a hissy fit?”
At a
certain point in almost two-decade years of life, there is one question that
always plays in my mind, why God created man with the ability to think and make
decisions rationally compared to other creature on this earth. Despite having
the ability, still, these imperfect creation has a weakness which one's action
is influenced by how he or she manages to control the emotion so that any regretful incident later could be avoided. As well as, if someone tries to look
upon the diversity of human nature and behaviour in the bigger picture and
unite all the differences among millions of people, it is certainly
impractical. It same goes to a beggar sitting on the sidewalk, relish his life
by living the same routine watching thousands of people passing by while
analyse everyone’s look and attitude from sunset, sunrise until the midnight
left him all alone. The actual purpose of my writing started with expressing
emotion and behaviour is because in general, a person judges others and
classify them through the appearance and character brought although the idiom
says “do not judge a book by its cover”, no one could deny the fact everyone
loves seeing pretty things and feel good about it. Similarly, in sustainable
development definition has mentioned that societies must live and meet their
needs, whereas it covers a wide range of human needs from life necessities like
food and shelter to money, health and education. However, without those who are
brilliant in making an appraisal and act efficiently among high positions in
large organizations such as UNESCO, UNHCR, WHO or UNICEF in establishing
programmes and convey the funds and aid to the less fortunate, they might fail
to achieve their objective to help nations and improve the lives of people.
Yet, if
these words apply with my life story as a millennial-born from childhood to
early adulthood, definitely, this clueless girl is nothing to compare with the
grandparents' ages more than half a century of herself. To begin, a brief
introduction of my background, I am just a girl who grows up in a simple and
modest family like the family pictured in the movies and so. Still, the ups and
downs that happened in my life are followed by a quote, “everything happens for
a reason”. Nevertheless, the advice of the ancestors about practising a
non-busybody life, it does not work for me, unfortunately. In the case of mine,
as no one cares about my opinion and naively adhere to the situation, I lost my
own identity and the original ‘me’ starts to slowly change into low
self-esteem, self-hatred, ungrateful, hopeless, and depressed. The reality that
has been unforeseen by the society whereby people stand for their prevalent
beliefs and ego is actually a poison to one's future. In fact, from the experience I went through before my eyes, initially parents send their children
to school in wish of nurture knowledge and virtues to ensure their dazzling
future, however, it turns to become disappointment where unhealthy competitive
culture and to be the best among the best has become a certainty by the
educators to achieve appreciation and praises that only stay temporarily. At
the age of kindergartener, both my parents started to notice the remarkable
part of mine when they often saw me read books page by page passionately and a
bit competent in learning. In the meantime, they showered me with numerous
books and materials at home to prepare for my school days. Followed by
blessings with compliments for my ingenuity in academic, both my shoulders were
heavy with burden to continue people’s expectation, besides, success to remain
consistent in the top class every year and received awards at the school’s
annual Parents Teacher Association event. Certificates and trophies adorned the
see-through cabinet in the living room of the house. The guests and relatives
who come to visit were unfailingly praised my achievement and asked tips from
my mother until she seems to be overwhelmed into the conversation without
realized her daughter felt anxious and uneasy inside, but able to give big
smile as a sign of agreement.
